Advice on Winter Driving

Hi Amy,

I am very glad to hear that you will be visiting me in February. Because it is winter time now, if you want to drive here, I have some advice for you. For safety reasons, you should notify a friend or your family member of your destination and anticipated arrival time. Make sure to clear snow and ice from the roof, hood, trunk and all windows, lights and mirrors before starting out because you need to see the road clearly. Please check that all tires have a tread depth of at least 1.5 mm because it is dangerous to use tires with tread depth less than that. You can find highway information at www.ontario.ca/511 before you leave. If the weather is bad, consider delaying your trip. And remember to prepare a winter driving kit in your car with booster cables, extra footwear, and energy foods.

So, be careful when driving in bad weather. See you then.

Best wishes.

Ivy
